    Hey herd,

Anybody figured out a way to drop the audio level of a clip to say, -10, BEFORE you open it in the viewer? Better yet, drop the audio of about 100 clips at once? I work witn alot of sfx and music clips that blast my eardrum to heck and back in the viewer when compared to my sequence audio levels. I do lower then once opened, but every now and again I forget and kablam, my brains get rattled.

Any ideas? I had hoped that opt/cmd/L would do it, but it doesn’t.

    Cheers,
    Neo

OPen it in STPro, lower the volume and resave. I do this regularly to boost levels a bit from my sequence levels to DVD levels.

Or just remember to lower the volume in the viewer before you play. I do that regularly too.

Thanks Jeremy, but perhaps I wasn’t clear. What I mean to say is, I have 1000+ music tracks that already loaded in FCP and I would like to select all of them and lower their playback level simultaneously – from within FCP’s browser. I think that taking it into STP would require reducing the master level permanently, which is overkill. I suppose what I’m asking for can’t be done….

If all of your levels are consistent, you can copy and paste attributes, namely the audio levels. Adjust one track, copy it, paste the audio level attributes.

    Can’t do it in the bin. Here’s a way…

Make a sequence. Highlight all clips and drag them into the sequence. Select all in seq. Then press cmd+opt+L. Type -10. Delete all your clips in your bin (or create a new bin). Copy all clips in sequence. Paste into empty bin.

Takes about 10 seconds depending on number of clips.
