  • Adding video inside shapes/picture.

    Hi,
I have scanned in a hand drawn imaged (of a thought bubble), and layered it onto a video. I now want to add another video inside the thought bubble. Is there any way to do this in After Effects?
I change the image to a vector if need be.

    thanks 🙂

    Of course.
Sounds like your very new to After Effects.
You want to mask your video with the pen tool. Basically you will position the video over your image, then trace with the pen tool the edges of the speech bubble. Have not watched it, but this will probably give you a better idea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G15FFYWWBRo

    Good luck!

You can also use the thought bubble as a track matte [link], or you can use the Set Matte effect [link].

If you’re new to After Effects, I’d recommend the following link, in which Adobe’s Todd Kopriva pulls together some important introductory materials:

I especially recommend the Video Copilot “Basic Training” series that Todd links to.

That’s a tough way to learn. AE is both broad and deep, and spending a little time upfront to get comfortable with the basics is vital for mastering the more advanced concepts. I do wish you luck! Hopefully you’ll have the time later to swing back through the material Todd links to.

You must enable audio output in your Output Module [link] in the Render Queue. It is off by default.
