adding picture in between two pictures…
ok i know this might be the easiest thing in the world but i just cant seem to figure it out, o have vegas pro 8 and i am making a montage for my church, well each class has a title and a class photo. i put those in the first day and now have all the picture dont and go back to start placing them in between each of the class photos and titles only to find out that vegas just places the picture under the next file. is there any way to make vegas place the new file “inbetween” two files already on the timeline so it just slides the rest of the files down, instead of just overlapping files? thank you very much

Just click on the second clip in the time line and drag it to the right to make room for the in-between clip. drag in the in-between clip and butt it up next to the 1st then butt the 3rd next to the middle. Snapping is turned on by default I think. You can just drag any video or audio event anywhere you want in the time line, even from track to track. How easy is that? Try doing that in Avid or FCP. ….or you can do it automatically by turning on the ripple edit. Up on the tool bar it’s the icon with the 2 boxes and an arrow. Turn that on, then click the arrow for a drop down box of choices. 1 track – affected tracks or all tracks. Put your curser when you want to drop in the photos (or clip) and everything will move to the right automatically without you having to manually butt everything together again.One ceveat though, make sure you turn it off with you’re done or you’ll accidently be moving everything when you don’t want to. 😉

well i thank you guys very much! and i think it would work but about an hour after i posted that question i droped my computer and shatter my hard drive, so until dell gets me my new computer i wont be able to try it lol so right now i am tortured into using windows movie maker on my only available computer to try and salvage a montage together by tommorow morning! but thanks again!
