  • Adding noise effect to glow layer style

Please help, I’m trying to add a noise effect to a glow style layer. I need the effect that this object is becoming increasingly charged with electricity and I like the buzzing noise effect, its perfect. I’m using After Effects CS5 (Ver 10.0.0.458). Every time I try to add the effect, its adding it to the actual text instead of the glow around the text. There must be a way to do this. Thanks

Precompose and apply it to the precomp.

you might try using the glow effect rather than the glow layer style.

then place the noise effect after the glow effect.

if you don’t want the noise on the text (just the glow) then you could also add the cc composite effect, which should add the original text layer back on top of the other effects.
