  • adding large capacity drives to an existing RAID – 300gb and 320gb

    Hi there

I’m busy rebuilding my RAID using a Infortrend Fiber RAID system and have a bunch of 300Gb drives and I need 3 additional drives to complete the 16 drive system.

Unfortunately they don’t make 300gb drives anymore and I can only get hold of 320gb drive.

I’m thinking that the RAID would just conform to 300gb so I would just loose the extra 20gb that the new drives offer.

    I’m I thinking correctly?

    Many thanks
    Rory

Yep, It should just not account for the extra Storage when you put thoese drives and the 300GB drives in a RAID mixed together.
