  • Adding HDV Footage to an XDCAM EX Timeline

I’m about 90% into post on a job shot on XDCAM EX…now my client has given me footage HE shot on a little Canon HV20 that I have to mix into the project.

Further proof that there really only two kinds of people in the world…complicators and simplifiers. He (and 95% of the rest for the world) fall into the former category. But I digress.

I know it was shot on straight HDV (not the 24 frame setting you can do on that Canon).

The question…How do I import this into my timeline? I assume I will need to run it through Compressor before I cut the footage in…but what setting should I use so I can drop it into the FCP timeline?

    Appreciate the advice.

    Thanks.

What is the frame rate of the EX footage? If it is the same as hdv, you have no need to use compressor.

The EX stuff was shot at 30FPS so I guess we are good to go…
