Adding Effects
Hi All,
Does anyone know how to add an effect to footage, but only to occur at a certain point in the composition. I am having problems grasping this. I have worked with adding effects to footage by using the transparency levels and keyframing, going from a transparency of 0% to 100% over a certain length of time.
Is there any other way, that you can just have an effect appear on comp footage other other than using transparency keyframing?
I am talking about adding effects to occur at a certain point in time like, a Sapphire effect.
It might be a crazy simplistic question, but it’s killing me.

One way to do this is to add the effect to an adjustment layer, and have the adjustment layer’s duration just be for the time when you want the effect to be active. To restrict the effect to just a single layer, you’d need to precompose the layer with the adjustment layer.
Another way is to split your layer and apply the effect to one of the new layers but not the other.
