adding effects to clips before timeline
Is it possible to mute the audio from a clip in the source, or remove it completely? I have no need for the audio in my raw footage and its distracting when i’m scrubbing theough footage.
Also, is it possible to add effects eg scale or position or anything to clips without adding them to the timeline first? I need to change the scale of my raw footage and don’t want to have to apply the same effect to every subclip instance of it in the timeline.

Yes, select the clip, go to Clip > audio options > Source channel mappings and uncheck all the channels.
You can select multiple clips to do it all at once, but they have to match in the number and type of audio channels.
You also have to do it before the clips are in the timeline or source window, or the option will be grayed out.

You can’t affect scale in the project panel other than changing your preferences to default scale to frame size. You have to do that before you import the clips.
In the timeline, when you are done editing, you can right click, copy and paste attributes to all clip at once.
Or you can copy and paste attributes as you go.
