    Dear Avid pro users,

Now this is probably a silly question to you guys but I’m just starting to edit in Media Composer 6. I have a synced clip since we were shooting double-system but I cannot on earth figure out how to drag and drop the audio onto different channels so that it doesn’t overwrite already existing audio. Been looking for over two hours on the internet and couldn’t find anything related to this particular problem.

The picture pretty much describes what exactly I want to do.

Need urgent help since I need to hand in an assignment for uni very soon, PLEASE !

P.S.: My best guess is that I should create a new SOURCE audio track that’s stereo rather than two monos but I don’t know if that’s even possible

Use the OVERWRITE arrow, the red one, from the Smart Tools (or Shift-A to activate). Hold SHIFT to select all the items you want to move. Then hold CMD…oh, you are on a PC…hold ALT(opt) to lock the move to stick to edit points…and drag down to where you want. If there is nothing on those lower tracks, nothing will be overwritten.
