    Here’s a question that seems so simple, but cannot figure it out. How do you add a hard edge (not a shadow) to an object, be it a PIP effect or maybe even simple text or any other shape?

    Apply a mask to the edge of the object and apply Effects > Render > Stroke to the mask.

    If it’s text generated by AE, just activate the stroke property.

    If it’s a rectangular video box, select the layer and double-click the rectangular masking tool.
