  • adding a video file to a vray/AR material

Posted by Paul Rijkaard on June 11, 2016 at 1:19 pm

I am new to building vray materials for c4d, but have a little experience for c4d AR.

In my scene there is a laptop and I would like to add an animation to the screen material.
Rather than doing this in post I would like the screen image to generate GI/reflections etc.

    1. Which Vray material channel should I add it to? is there a similar process to AR to load the video and hit calculate?

    2. I previously have been told by render farm technicians that it is better to add video as image sequence rather than as a quicktime movie (for c4d AR) although I couldn’t find a way to do this – is this possible for either renderer??

    many thanks

I don’t know about VRay but an image sequence in Standard or Physical is easy. With any sequence of images (in one of the formats C4D recognizes (lots)), that are numbered sequentially, in the same folder, load the first one in any channel (Luminance for your laptop screen probably) then go to the Bitmap Shader/Animation tab and hit Calculate
