  • Add Ambient Occlusion to just 2 object in scene?

Posted by Kevin Camin on April 19, 2012 at 11:31 pm

I have a situation where I just want the Ambient Occlusion applied to a point where two objects touch in a scene. Is there a way to do this with a tag? I’m trying to avoid doing a separate render pass for this.

    Thanks!

    Best regards,

with scene wide AO (in the render settings) you can disable AO for any object by adding a Compositing tag to the object and uncheck Seen By AO there but that is best for excluding a small number of objects it’s not good if you have a lot and want AO on only two. Fot that make materials with the Ambient Occlusion channel shader in the Diffusion channel of the material and place tose on the objects you want to have AO ( you do not enable scene-wide AO in that case)

Forgot to say thank you back in April. My apologies. Your advise did the trick. Thank you.
