While watching a dvd I hear my HD/computer processing..wondering what it could be because I wasnt using anything else but dvd player..I found something called “sort” as the process name by “nobody” as the user in the Activity Monitor list. Also one process called “makewhatis” by “nobody” as the user. Everything else being “root” and “my user name” which would be ok. Sceptical about it being malicious or not. I decided to ask here. Anyone know what these are? And how could I find out if there’s someone trying to hack my computer…or could it be a virus?
    G4 running Tiger.

Thx for any enlightenment on the matter.
