  • Acquire 4-channels of audio via Firewire?

Anyone know if it’s possible to acquire content from our Sony DSR-2000A deck via Firewire (i.Link) and KEEP the 4-channels of audio in tact and separated?

Or, as a second alternative, is it possible to have the output of the deck MIX all 4 channels down to two and output the content via the Firewire port?

Or, is video pumped thru Firewire only ever 2 channels?

We’re trying this now, but all we hear on the PC end is channels 1 and 2. Channels 3 and 4 are completely ignored.

    Thanks.

I think you will have to get channels 3/4 sparately.

I don’t have this particular unit, but there should be a way to select which channels you want to output.

If I capture with Scenalyzer, can the files be imported into Premiere? If so, how would Premiere handle the footage?

In Scenalyzer (File>Options>Capture settings>File type) choose Type 2 DV for Premiere.
Scenalyzer will output an addition wave file if you select Second channel in Options just below above.
