Acid artwork problem
I’ve been trying to make similar style pattern as the background of the attached picture without much luck.
I assumed it would be fairly easy just using Zig Zag effect on a circle, user some gradients and layer the artwork, but it just doesn’t look right.
Does anyone have any suggestion how to make this kind of marbled/rave/acid pattern?

That’s more of a Photoshop effect. Once you have created the basic repeating spectrum, use a Wave warp effect (in vertical direction only) followed by polar coordinates.

Thank you for getting back to me.
Do you mean use Polar coordinates in photoshop?I’ve tried two set-ups in illustrator see attched picture and transfered the artwork to Photoshop to use the ‘Polar Coordinate’ effect. It definitely returns an interesting effect, though not exactly what I was looking for.

in illustrator ,you can do in simple steps by simply making the colored circles and then use effect > wrap>wave
or you can do it by wrinkle tool from the tool panel in illustrator. -
In Photoshop:
1. Create a spectrum gradient. Copy it a few times so it repeats.
2. Use Wave warp to roughen it vertically.
3. Use polar coordinates (rectangular to polar) and scale up so the warped area fill the canvas.
You can make something similar in Illustrator, it’s just easier in Photoshop.
