Achieving the look of older color photos/films in CS5???
Hello all! First time around the COW, but already have found a lot of useful information!!! So I’ve recently started working with Photoshop, and have been playing around with trying to give my photos some looks that I’ve been into from photographs I’ve seen here or there. Not much luck thus far… Would like some help on what adjustments, layers that need to be added, filters, ect to get the look similar to aged color photographs and the how certain out of production color films reproduced colors. I’d like to at least gain enough knowledge to where I will be able to get to a general point that I can fine-tune for whatever I’m going for exactly…. I included an image to show what I’m asking about to make it a little clearer on what I’m asking about.

first thing i would do is analyze the look of an older photo that you like – are the colors saturated? is the black really black? is there a lot of contrast? is the white balance warm or cold? to get the look of old photos you have to match the look that you like. drag a photo you like into the one you’ll be modifying. put them side by side and try to match the look and feel by adjusting curves, hue/saturation, levels, adding noise, etc.
