    Accordion/Crushing Effect

    I need to figure out how to best create an effect that makes a precomp expand/contract/fold in an accordion like fashion. I’m basically doing a transition a side view/profile of a car impacts and then transitions to an accordion player. I have no third party plugins and am working with After Effects CS3. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    perhaps turbulence displace set at wave setting?

    Thanks! After a little tinkering the turbulent displace filter achieved enough of the desired effect without having to do anything tedious. Much appreciated.
