  • Accidentally linked clips in timeline?

I’m working in the timeline, repeatedly using segment tool to move several audio clips around, muting or soloing some. All of a sudden, when I select any one of these clips, several others that I’ve been working with are also selected. So now if I move the intended clip, the others move with it. I can’t deselect the other clips; they all go on or off together.

What did I do to cause this?

It’s because you have linked selection enabled. This will select associated audio with video when in segment. Something they stole from Final Cut. You can turn it off. The icon to do this is located just above the smart tool.

On this project, we have no linked video / audio. These are all independent mono dialogue tracks.
I tried to recreate the situation by enabling the linked selection button and clicking on a few clips, but the behavior did not re-occur.

What else could cause the behavior I described?
