  • access backup-files from external harddisc (time machine)

    hey there!

this might be very basic, I don’t know if it’s a problem with time machine or with premiere.
we’re working on a film project accessing proxy files from an external harddisc, which I am backing up with time machine once every week (raw files and projects are backed up seperately).

now in case our main “working” harddisc breaks down, I’d have to be able to access the backuped files from the time machine backup. now I tested that by turning off the main HD and trying to relink missing files to the backup-files on the time machine HD.

but premiere doesn’t show / allow access any of these files. they are there (physically, on the BU-disc), but premiere doesn’t seem to recognize the “Backups.backupdb”-folder.

so my question is: what would I do in case the main HD breaks down? could I just copy everything in the “Latest” backup-folder onto a new main-HD, or would I have to restore them somehow?

I realize working from your BU disc is probably not the best idea…

    thanks for all suggestions!
