    I think we’re talking FCP5-to-AE6.5 …?

    Maybe Automatic Duck?

[jorje] “After Effect 6.5 don’t opens AAF exported from FCP 5.”

Do you have automatic duck? If not, you’re not exporting AAFs.

The best way to work between FCP and AE, is, in my experience, to load an edited clip from the timeline to the viewer, then Export -> Quicktime movie (uncheck Make self contained movie). I name this movie with the sufffix “_source” for clarity and I put it in an “Effects” folder of my project folder. Then I load it in AE, do the effects, and render a QT using a “_fx” or whatever suffix in the name. I then delete the clip in FCP timeline, load the “_fx” render clip and put it at the place of the old clip.

Sounds complicated, but it’s easier than loading up an entire timeline in AE and then reload it in FCP…
