  • A way to make a global change to all subtitles in a project?

Posted by Jenn Lindsay on October 14, 2021 at 4:55 pm

Hi guys! I am work on a feature doc that has subtitles from time to time. Since I edit on my little Mac laptop, I accidentally made my subtitles too large. My focus group feedback says they look weird.

In my wishes and hopes, I fantasize that there is a way to globally change all the subs’ font size so I can get the job done in a few confident keystrokes.

Alas, I am afeared that each title will have to be manually adjusted.

    A penny for your thoughts?

    Thank you kindly!

    Hi Jenn,

You can select all subtitles and make the changes you want at once.

    Hope this helps.

How are you doing the subtitles in FCP? If they’re plain FCP titles, you can select them all, and in the inspector, change the size of them all at once. Now, if you had custom text sizes on various subtitles, then they will all be reset to whatever you change it to.

Make a note- when it comes to titles and sound levels among other things the inspector is your best friend. You can do temp titles and place them, then select the all in the inspector, change the font, font style, color just about any parameter and apply the change all of them – boom .
