I upgraded yesterday to take advantage of the $50 upgrade download… After installing and starting fresh on another music video (which I cut in Avid Xpro all the time) I was horrified to see that you can only group up to 4 (FOUR) clips into a group. When you’ve got 26 takes of a song this won’t work. I did some forum checking and indeed this is true. Avid is apparently aware that they have done this and is supposedly working on a fix. At the rate they go, maybe we’ll see it by Christmas! Just wanted to post and make people aware.

    Life is linear. Edit life.

I don’t know where you are getting your information, but Xpress Pro is designed to have only 4 tracks of multicam playback.

    anything 24fps

I’m not talking about the realtime quad-split that arrived with the version 5 on Mac (It’s been on PC for a while) I’m talking about the actual grouping of clips. If you have a multicam shoot of more than 4 cameras or a music video where you might have 20 or 30 takes then you want to group waaaaay more than 4 clips into a group. And it has always worked, at least on the mac side, until this upgrade to 5.5. I made this post to let people know as it appears it was kind of an accident. If you use this workflow regularly then you will be burned by this… as I was yesterday.
