    Aloha from Maui,

Im using an Imac Core2 Duo 2.33 with 3GIG of Ram and a 500GB Hard drive. I do understand that to get real-time output, I need an external drive, but here’s my question.

When I export a sequence to an avi file, the file has a couple of unrendered frames in it. I don’t get it. Prior to outputting the movie, I have used the command D keystroke to render all clips and transitions. Yet when FCP outputs a movie file, not all transitions are fully rendered. If I were trying to output to tape live, I could understand dropped frames, but I’m not. I am outputting directly to AVI, but that shouldn’t make any difference, right?

My background is Premiere and in that program, even if you don’t render the timeline, it renders it to the avi file. I can’t think of a single reason that FCP should give me this result.

    Can you?

What happens if you output to a quicktime with default settings?

From what I gather from your post you seen to be editing from your main system drive. IT IS NEVER RECOMMENDED TO EDIT FROM THE SYSTEM DRIVE. It is already working at running the OS and FCP, making it work even harder by also having to access your video can cause bad performance during editing like dropped frames.

Make sure all the items are checked in the Render Menu, including the light and dark green bars.
