I need to do it in an ordinary QT movie.”I don’t believe there’s any way to do this with a quicktime movie. This has to be done in some third party application such as DVD Studio Pro for DVD use. Basically that third party application would have in’s and out’s or there would be a series of video clips that would be triggered by the app.
I’ve supplied something like this for a PowerPoint presentation but it was actually a series of video clips for the client. Powerpoint would trigger each clip at the proper time in the presentation.
If you have someone who is trying to simply use Quicktime Player to start / stop movies, then they will have to do it manually using the space bar and you can simply put a freeze frame at those stopping points.

You can do this in Cleaner 6. Go to “Windows”, “Event Stream”. You can do all the things that you have described and more. You can even create hot spots where you can make a command to jump to specific points in the movie. And it’s all done in Quicktime.

March 27, 2006 at 3:48 pmAha. Would you please use Flash to export a little 2-second QuickTime movie that pauses after 1 second and posting it here? Then I hope I can import that as a clip in FCP.
Thanks

there have now been several excellent suggestions for how to fulfill your requirements.
Both the Cleaner and the QT scripting versions I now faintly recall having heard about a long long time ago. These are probably the best solutions for you since scripting originated in Flash, in my experience, will not survive a trip through FCP.
Without knowing all the tech details it does appear that FCP uses a different segment of the QT technology than FCP does. The QT player, obviously is meant for playback of many different media types. Many of these are on the internet, ie swf-files which can be made in Flash.
For FCP it
