First, the responses here are not overwhelmly good, perhaps you should look them over once more.
Second, as I said before, I’m only responding to what you’ve shown me.
Third, you’re the one whose ego seems to be on the line, so don’t be projecting that onto me.
Four, if you’re so overly concerned about the responses that others have to what you choose to exhibit maybe you’ve chosen the wrong profession.
Good luck to you, and I hope someday you find a way to use your new camera productively and profitably.

May 6, 2007 at 4:13 pmThose are sure a lot of assumptions.. I never said that I was in any profession..
This user group sure doesn’t need any pompous arrogant a-holes like yourself, do we.

May 7, 2007 at 5:57 pmHere is my take on a nice AVCHD workflow:
Digitize over HDMI or Component using a Decklink or AJA card to DVCPROHD.
Done.
What I’d like to see if FCP using Log and Transfer to mount a AVCHD HDD camera and transfer it to a different codec. That would probably be the best interface.

May 8, 2007 at 3:31 pmYou do realize that that card can only work in a very limited number of Macs.. All Laptops, mini macs, iMacs, G4, a number of G5s, and even a large number of winTell G5’s are out of the question..
Just an FYI.

May 8, 2007 at 3:57 pmOf course. That’s why professionals put together editing systems, not just computers with editing software.
If you’re going to be dealing with AVCHD on a regular basis, then it would be well worth your time to purchase a Mac tower with PCI-Express and a Blackmagic Intensity card.

May 8, 2007 at 4:48 pmOf course, I’ve got a friend over at Apple putting a system together for me, however all AVCHD cameras are marketed toward non professionals, such as what I use this camera for (The family cam).
I just wanted to do test to see if its was possible to do it “the hard way” so too speak. My conclusion is that while very difficult, not impossible, the results are pretty good.. But boy-howdy, its a lot of painfully work.
I personally will be going the BM intensity card route, but I feel for consumers on this one. I don’t think they know what they are in for..
