A new / different camera
Hi Guys. I regularly shoot with EX1 and Ex3 cameras. I have 100% stability in AMA accessing the media and transcoding to Avid media files from the EX BPAV folder structure.. But next week Ill be hiring in 2 more cameras (both ex3) but these may have a different software / firmware installed than the ones I have experience of.
Is there ANY danger that the camera software might make accessing this media any different to my usual workflow?

In theory it shouldn’t. The AMA plug-in is developed by Canon, so it should support whatever firmware out in the field. But again, never say never, and a quick test should be able to solve that. Since you are hiring/renting these, can whomever owns them provide you with a quick couple shots and BPAV folder to verify beforehand?

You might want to make sure that you are running the latest available XDCAM AMA plugin for your version of Avid from the website. As Michael said, Sony create this plugin themselves, so you would expect that it will support the latest firmware updates etc.
