a good BOB? for DVCPRO via SDI output TO CAPTURE into Precision 690 PC?
Help with this Please,
an odd project came to me, with some 6+ years old gear to use:
it will be a pleasure to accomplish this project with FCP
and the purchase of a powerful Mac…
for today I’ve been using a few Precision 690’sI would like to move old tapes using the SDI output
from a DVCPRO aj-d750 without any Fireware on the VTR Desk,
and the old SD camera has only S-Video output, and composite
I am struggling to understand if this Kona2 (or the Adrenaline DNA BOB)
item will be adequate, or useless for transfering the SD video,
The current computer is Precision 690, and I’ll be happy to get a Power-Mac…the potentially usable options, AFAIK: are in my non-prioritize list below!

You are trying to capture SDI (standard definition?) as well as something from a camera as S-video/composite?
The Aja Kona cards can do this without a BOB. Cable connections for the SDI are simple of course – a single SDI will carry everything and the AJA has SDI in and out on the board.
Analog signals go through a breakout cable. It utilizes BNC connections, even for S-Video. You will need one of those funky s-video to Dual-BNC adapters to capture S-video. Or just use the composite input (this time just a simple BNC to RCA adapter).
Bear in mind that audio is balanced XLR for analog. A mixing board might help here.
