A few noob Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 questions
Can anyone help? I’m in a kerfluffle about a few basic things and some experienced wisdom would be muchly appreciated!
1. When I hit the space bar to play a sequence, it takes five seconds to start playing (unless I render it.) I’m on a really fast Windows 7 PC with four gigs of RAM and I gave myself a good page swap allocation and have no programs running the background. Is there any way to get rid of that five second delay? (I’m working in hi-def by the way, 720P 60 FPS)
2. If I edit something and render it, then import that sequence into another project, it’s un-rendered. Is there anyway to keep it rendered upon import?
3. Is there any way to do volume changes easier than key frames? That seems clunky to me. I like how it is in Vegas, right clicking to add points and dragging the volume up or down.
4. Also, in Vegas I like how if you overlap two clips, it automatically creates a video and audio dissolve. Anything like that in Premiere that I’m missing, or do you have to do the audio and video dissolves separately with effects?
5. Un-rendered video plays back jerky. Any suggestions?
6. How many layers of importing sequence into sequence into sequence can you do before it will cause problems?

Everything’s on my computer’s one hard drive. I’m ordering an external drive today and will use that for media and renders. Someone said that might help.

Best to use a internal drive (unless its a laptop), if a external is necessary a eSATA is best unless you have USB3
