Okay I am trying to place a geraphic on a computer screen the DP desided that it would be fun to do the shot hand held. I got the grain looking nice and the composit oof the graphic pops up in sink with the pop up window… Then I hit the part where I have to track the motion of the hand held shot to the graphic using placing the effect on the footage layer at the contrasty intersections at the edge of the moniters corners and then appliying the motion to the graphic. . . and then I annalize forwad and apply. but nothing happens I have tryed all the varieties of tracker I have tryed the most contrasting area I can fine I have even tried to having multple track points. some one please tell me how this tracker works I have read the manual and reread the manual I have done the Trish and Chris meyer tutorial from AE in production… addmittedlythatwas silly cause they wrote it for 6.5 and I am working on 7… but I cannot figgure this motion tracking thing out. HELP? does having multiple trackers not points but actually like thirteen at one point multiple trackers have an adverse effect.? when I tell it to analyze forward it draws the motion line and places the keyframes then nothing. the logo stays in place the hand held image shakes around it.. I have tryed going the other rought and stabalizingf the image… is there a tutorial on this I need to learn it … but am totally lost …

You must apply the tracker to a targe layer.

See the Apply button at te bottom of the tracker?

You may also need to Edit Target. See the button in the Tracker controls.

If using AE, I just do a track (you only need a one point track if the perspective doesn’t change) using the Raw track mode. Then copy the positional keys to a null layer. Then just parent anything I want to track to the null layer. The beauty of this is that you can just move around your graphic layer as you wish to offset it’s position. As long as it is parented to the null then it tracks right along.

mmmmm for tracking, i tend to venture further down the pipeline and open up Shake. if you have it, or can afford the purchase, its definetly worth it. i love the tracking system in it, and rotoscoping seems to me to be easier as well. i dont like the way AE selects points and belzier handles; very easy in shake. 2 cents..splash
