A few capturing issues.
I have been capturing for years with my Sony PV-GS 320 and my firewire.
All of the sudden when I plug my camera in my firewire wont register on my computer, nor will it show up when im in capture mode in Vegas Pro 8.0. When I plug it in theres not even a “duh dun” I dont understand what could be the problem there.
So I then tried my USB 2.0 which read fine under capture mode, but when I would capture a clip then “drag and drop” it into the time, there wouldnt be any audio. I have it set to “Line in” and 44.100 k Hz 16 bit Stereo. When I preview it in capture its fine… audio, video, everything. But when its under project media and the timeline theres no audio at all. Just video.
Help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You cannot capture DV video via USB. DV only flows over firewire. You need to find out what changed on your PC to make the firewire stop working. If you have Microsoft automatic updates turned on, it is possible that an update broke it. If this happened recently, try and use System Restore to go back to a date where it was working.

It is also quite possible that the firewire port on either the camera or the computer has failed. This can happen if you connect the firewire cable to either computer or camera while the power is on. The best practice is to be sure that the power is off before either connecting or disconnecting the cable.
