Activity Forums VEGAS Pro A couple of simple clip questions

I’m sure what I’m looking for is available, but I just don’t know how to display it:

    (1) Clip name: How do I turn on the name of a clip as it sits on a timeline? All I see is the bare strip with a few thumbnails of the clip, but I want to see what it’s called at a glance and not have to do a “RT clk> Properties” to find out (i.e., “I don’t remember which take this is.”)

    (2) Clip length: I know I get a “-” or “+” frames as I adjust an inpoint or outpoint, but how do I display “current length”? In other words, as I adjust that clip I want to see BOTH its relative (+ or -) adjustment and its actual (existing/new) duration.

    Thanks!

Try the menu item: View | Active Take Information (Ctrl+Shift+I)

You can’t. I usually make a timeline selection for the duration I want and then resize the clip to match the selection. You can type in the length of a selection in the bottom right corner of the timeline. The first number is the selection start, the second is the selection end, and the third is the selection length. What most people don’t realize is that you can double-click on them and enter your own timecodes in directly.

Thanks, John. So, new question: Is there a preferred place to submit “new feature requests” for Vegas? The “clip duration display” definitely should be easier than what you (so helpfully, thanks) illustrated. I’ve got others, too…

Yes. Try their web site under Product Suggestions
