Alright, here’s the deal. We’re having problems retaining our closed captioning when we create an m2v of our video through Compressor. The captions are on the timeline just fine, they’re in the quicktime that we export, however when we encode in Compressor it coverts the frame size down from 486 to 480, stripping the top 6 lines and our captions with it. The final destination is NOT a dvd, otherwise we could merely import the captioning file into DVD Studio Pro – I realize this. We need to find a way to get our captions into the m2v so we can ftp that to the station.

Is this impossible? Or are we totally missing the obvious?

    Final Cut 5.1.4
    Compressor 2
    Tiger 10.4.1

    Many thanks,

    Nick

Yes, they’re pretty specific about the fact that they want an .m2v. No, it doesn’t have to be 720×480 – but at this point we can’t figure out how to encode a 720×486 m2v (I feel stupid saying that, but we really can’t – the geometry options in Compressor 2 are grayed out). No, we don’t have to ftp it to them, the data dvd would be fine – but the captions are the issue here.

    Thanks,

    Nick
