  • 854×480 problem when moving to 720×480

I’m creating some frames in 854×480 (1.0 PAR) in order to export them to DV Widescreen.

So I start a project in AE with 854×480 1.0 PAR and then I import them. Or also I can start a project in Premiere 720×480 1.2121 PAR.

The problem is that rendering the project in AE to DV Widescreen 720×480 1.2121 or watching it in Premiere 720×480 1.2121, I can see two black lines at the LEFT and the RIGHT of the video (they are small, some pixel).

    I really can’t understand why!

    I can also try this:

    – In PS create a 854×480 PAR 1.0 image
    – Than in PS create a 720×480 PAR 1.2121 image
    – The two size does not agree.

What should I do in order to properly export DV Widescreen video?

    Thank you

Frames have been created in 3d studio max and saved ad .tga. I’m sure they are 854×480 PAR 1.00

What version of AE & Premiere are you using? The PARs changed in CS4. But since there’s no NTSC DV Widescreen Square Pixel preset, it makes it a little difficult.

After so fiddling, it looks like you’ll actually want 872×480 for a DV widescreen square pixel comp.

    I’m using AE & Premiere CS5.

    1) You are right! 872×480 PAR 1.00 looks like 720×480 PAR 1.2121. Now I really don’t understand when I should use 854×480. Could you help me?

    2) Ok, I’ll use .tiff in future. And… what about using .rpf? Please note that I need alpha channel… Is it supported?
