I want to try the hack but I’m worried about jacking up the camera. I also use my GH2 as stills camera. Any good links on the overall effects of the hack on the rest of the cameras functions?

The hack only effects video functions, and it’s easy to remove the hack and restore the original firmware.

Yeah I’ve heard of no cases of folks bricking their cameras through most of the more popular hacks. You may end up voiding your warranty however… then again that’s not an insurmountable price to pay for greatly improved potential image quality.

I’ve heard of one person bricking their GH-2 because they tried to update the firmware with a defective 3rd party battery that died during the updating process.

Bottom Line: Always use a Panasonic battery when updating the firmware.

I just finished a short film on the GH2 using a very high-bitrate hack and didn’t have any major issues.

Here’s some B-roll of Austin, TX that I shot with the Quantum Hack (v7).
