  • 7D footage starts to import through log & transfer then aborts

I just bought a 7D, and I’m running Final Cut Pro 6.0.6. Every time I try to log and transfer footage, the process starts, and then at some point it aborts without importing any of the footage from the camera. Is there a setting off? What do I do? I feel like I just wasted a ton of money on this thing.

My understanding is that the EOS plugin that you download and install to make L&T work with the 7D is designed to run in FCP7 not 6.

If it will run with FCP6, then the other important thing is to let the computer do the L&T process without doing anything else with FCP until the transfer is complete. I discovered that starting to edit whilst L&T was running caused some files to abort before complete.

Are you importing into FCP direct from the camera or from a copy of the card you’ve made on your computer?

The first version of the Canon plugin worked in FCP 6 but needs OS10.5 or 10.6.
