I have Avid Media Composer 2.8 with a Mojo. Is there anyway to shoot 720pn and somehow get a standard def betacam dub?
Can I bounce the video back to the camera to a P2 card in HD and set the output to SD and get a dub?
I have other software that may be able to help- Raylight, Sorenson and Aftereffects.

Import the footage into Avid, then output to tape via your Mojo.

I imported the footage into a 720p/23.976 project- and there’s no output through the mojo (’cause the mojo’s only SD).

I imported the footage into a 1080i project and when I try to play it- I get an error “clip frame rate does not match project rate”.

Since the footage is “native” it somehow needs to do a reverse telecine and get the frame rate to 60i doesn’t it?

[Steve West] “I imported the footage into a 1080i project and when I try to play it- I get an error “clip frame rate does not match project rate”.”

    Yup…because it is a 23.98 clip, not a 29.97 clip. Won’t work.

Well, REVERSE TELECINE is what is done to get footage that is 24fps that was recorded onto a 60i tape BACK to 24fps. So this would be a “telecine.” Not sure how you’d do this on an Avid, or if it is possible.

Looks like you need to upgrade your MOJO to an HD one if you are going to be working with HD. MOJO DX is due out soon.

Try exporting a quicktime reference and import it into an SD project.

720 sucks in Avid right now if you have to go to SD.
