    Hello all:

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere…

The footage files I’m importing are quite large — ie. on an 8 BG card, getting about 8 minutes per card. Turns out the pics are shot 720P60 and the T/C is 59.94 rate. If I do not wish to use SLO-MO, is there any way to discard the ‘extra’ frames on import? Also, can I instruct the DP to start shooting 720P24 so we can get more on each card — and if he does, can I mix these two framerates on the FCP timeline without needed to render anything?

Please excuse my ignorance on these matters, and shower me with great advice.

    Best, JIM.

    Was the 60p shot 24 over 60 or 60 over 60?

If it was shot 24 over 60 you can remove the frames on import with 5.1.1. If it was shot 60 over 60, than you would have to use a plug in such as Nattress Standards Conversion to get your media down to 24p.

    Hi Jeremy:

Thanks for your response. The footage was shot 24P over 60. I’m running FCP 5.0.4 — is it possible to remove the frames upon import in this version? I don’t see any options in the import window. Or if I set the Easy Setups to DVCPRO HD 23.98 will that do the trick?

You need to remove that pulldown. Have you tried selecting a 720p60 clip in the browser and click Tools>Remove advanced pulldown…?

This would be the prefect time for you to upgrade to 5.1.1.
