720P/25PN = 720P/24PN ??
Hello guys and dolls,
I just bought the AG-HVX201AE. I’m from Europe (Belgium).I thank the gods (and the people as well) for this forum ’cause I’m realy new to filming with this cam but I’m willing to learn. I’ve been reading this forum for hours and already learned a few things. (Small detail: I have to shoot a video clip within 14 days… The only thing I did so far was filming and edtiting clips with a nv-gs500 and Vegas pro 8 for the internet. I will order the B. Green book but it will take 10 or 11 days to get here, that’s a bummer.
Before I even turn on the power of this camera, I want to know as much as I can about it and P2. Here’s my first question, later on and if you will allow me, I will be back with some more, no doubt.
Here it is. I want to shoot the clip in 720P/24PN for that sweet film look but the manual does not even mention this setting. It comes as close as 720P/25PN. What am I missing here? I have the feeling this is a rather stupid question…Thank you so much for helping me out here.

There’s a PAL and NTSC version of the 200. You have the PAL version.

The Pal version of the HVX200 uses 25PN and the NTSC version uses 24PN. You don’t get 24PN on your camera and we don’t get 25PN on ours.
Don’t feel bad though, we’ve been living with 30 frames a second for decades and you’ve had 25 fps, just one frame off from the popular 24fps film speed. Just use 25pn and be happy.

That’s it. Thank you for the info Jeremy & Rennie. Now I just have to be shure that Vegas pro can handle the 25PN. That gives me double rec time on my 32GB P2. I’ll check it out.
