720/24p to NTSC down conversion issues
I edited a sequence shot on a p2 camera in 720/24p that I need to output to NTSC Beta SP. In FCP, I was able to downconvert to 525/60i by making a new SD project and dragging the HD sequence onto the SD timeline. The outcome was broadcastable, but jerky. Does anyone have any experience with the progrogressive to interlaced conversion that makes the output smooth?
Also, would it have made a difference if the footage was shot in 1080i instead of 720p?

With Kona card, you output straight from your 720p24 timeline, downconverting with 2:3:2:3 pulldown added.

Would the direct output also work the same way with the AJA IOHD? I’m running through the IOHD…

ioHD does 10bit cross conversion from 1080i to 720P. You can download the tech specs here: https://www.aja.com/pdf/IoHD_sht_loRez.pdf

Sure. Just look in the PDF manual on your system or on the AJA site. The details are all there. Basically set your analog output to downcovert to 525i29.97 and in the Codec tab, set the pulldown pattern to 2:3:2:3.
