    Hi all,

I am encoding for broadcast for the first time and have been told to encode:
    DVCPro HD:
    Format: Quicktime Movie
    Compression Setting: DVCPro HD 1920x1080i60
    Compressor Native Raster: 1280×1080 (1920×1080)
    Frame Rate: 29.97

Unfortunately, we have been shooting for web and haven’t thought about broadcast, so most of our footage is 24p. Is there a way using FCP/Compressor/MPEG Streamclip to create the required files?

Every place I’ve seen has been suggesting a 3:2 pulldown using AE, but I unfortunately do not have the Adobe suite.

    Thanks for your help,
    Will

You can add 3:2 pulldown using Compressor.

How would I do the 3:2 pulldown using Compressor?

I’m encoding the files using Compressor now with the exact settings I need. Will it automatically accommodate for the different frame rates?

Thanks for the response, Dave. I wish I could afford After Effects, unfortunately I’m working with a highly limited budget… (i.e. $0).

After Effects has a 30 day free trial. It is also rentable at $79 / month.

But it has a learning curve. Easier and quicker would be FCP X. Drop your 720p24 in a 1080i sequence and export. Presto you’re done. It too has a 30 day free trial.
