March 26, 2011 at 7:28 amTo record a frame rate such as 23.98 fps from within 59.94 fps, VFR should be selected for the Record Type. If Normal, as opposed to VFR is selected, the Ki Pro Mini will produce the standard 59.94 fps. You can determine if the Ki Pro Mini is actually seeing 23.98 (24) by entering STATUS.
If you need further assistance, contact AJA Technical Support via phone or email Monday through Friday, PST.

March 27, 2011 at 2:44 pmI am not familiar with that camea but In addition to what Aja said ( kipro in VFR mode) double check and make sure that the userbits are in fact turned on set to tcg mode. On some Panasonic models, this is not turned on by default and you have to physically turn this feature on via the menus. Perhaps it’s the same for JVCs.

March 27, 2011 at 9:25 pmWell that worked. The 2 things that confused me were;
1) the note on page 35 of the manual which seemed to imply (at first glance) that 23.98 would be treated as PsF no matter what the record type setting was and
2) the status display which shows the top line (video) as 720 59.94
and the second line (audio) as 720 VFRBut as I said it all imports just fine thank-you very much.

August 14, 2012 at 6:06 amThat’s because your JVC is actually shooting at 59.94 fps but is using a 2:3 pull down to achieve the look.
We do the same thing with our 250’s but leave the frame rate capture at 59.94 and all works well.
