I’ve got an issue where I’m using a DeckLink HD Extreme to drive a widescreen CRT using DVC ProHD 720p24.

We’ve been operating this way for a while with no problems, but now the Decklink output looks strobed – like it’s only putting out 15 fps.

    Here are the stats:
    OSX 10.4.9
    FCP 5.1.4
    QT 7.1.3
    2 x 2.66
    3GB ram
    BM driver 5.7.3r2

In trying to fix this problem I’ve tried various configurations of FCP (5.1.4 and 6.0), QT (7.1.3 and 7.1.6) and BM drivers (5.7.3r2 and 6.3).

None of these addresses my strobing problem, but I have noticed that the 6.3 driver does not work in any of these configurations. Specifically, outputting 720p 59.97 1280 x 720 at 8 bit produces a totally corrupt picture (10 bit works but expands the picture).

To me it looks broke. Anyone else having a similar problem?

I just updated to 6.3 drivers after I upgraded to FCP 6, and now my entire FCP system crashes immediately upon opening. The only way to get FCP 6 to work for me is to remove the blackmagic codec from my quicktime folder. Blackmagic now crashes FCP at worst, at best it gives a strobed output that zooms in and out of the picture right before freezing up for eternity.

Looks like the 6.3 drivers were crappy. Good for people with new Intel Pro Macs. Bad for the rest of us. Anyway, I can’t do a lick of work in FCP 6 anymore. Only solution is to re-install FCP 5 or but an intel mac. No support for the rest of us, maybe.
