I’m editing a commercial that I shot 1280×720 at 60p. I only need some of the footage in slomo so I reconformed those to 30p and edited in 30p timeline. The problem is that the 60p (original, unconformed footage) has motion artifacts. When I ran a test edit in a 60p timeline the 60p footage was fine but then the unconformed footage (or other 30p stuff) had motion artifacts such as ghosted frames (as would result from slow shutter with fast movement). What’s the best way to go about mixing these two flavors of footage and getting great results on both?

Premiere Pro CS4 on Mac OS 10.5.8 (iMac)

    Thanks in advance,

Have you tried editing in 60p and stretching the slow mo footage to 50% speed?

When you export turn off frame blend

    I’ll try that!

    Thanks.

I agree with the other poster. I would suggest right clicking the 60p footage once it’s in a 30p timeline and turning off frame blending. This will drop frames instead of trying to blend every pair of frames together which creates artifacts.

I prefer turning off blending for any footage that will play at faster than normal speed.

    Cheers!
