We have Varicam footage in 60, 30 and 24 framerates and they were all captured with the 1200A in a 60p project. We’re wondering what the best approach to the post workflow would be. The final output will likely be 29.97 to Digital Betacam. Given that everything was captured as 60p, should we edit in a 60p timeline and then do a conversion in Cinema Tools? And for the downrez for Digibeta, what are the recommended approaches out there?

    Thanks for any help.

stay where you are, that 60p timeline (really 59.94) will make a great down convert to SD via a 3rd party card
like AJA’s Kona Cards – that allow you to do this in realtime.

IN a FW only workflow – you will need to make a tape first then dupe that to Beta.

You do not need CT for any part of the work you have explained.

Thanks for the response Gary. That’s good news because we have a Kona3. Now when we want to go slo-mo with the actual 60p footage — if we do a framerate conversion and bring it into the 60p timeline will it just be realtime or will it actually be slo-mo?

    Thanks again!
