    Hello Guys,

I have a project that was shot at 720p at 60fps on a panasonic varicam and I am now at output, the client has asked for a ntsc and pal dvd’s, now the ntsc dvd’s play fine but the pal conversion from 60fps to 25fps is very juddery and suffers greatly from motion blur.

The question is what is the best way of compressing or outputting this footage so it plays like it should? is there a method in Final Cut or is there an external plug in I need to get?

Thank you dearly for your thoughts and Time.

    All the best,

    Timothy

I think there’s a way to capture Varicam 720p60 at 24fps via some pulldown or pull up. Then just conform that to 25fps in CinemaTools, and you’ve got smooth video.

Or, you can convert 60 to 24 (or 59.94fps to 23.976fps) in Compressor and then conform that to 25fps to get PAL. Just make sure you convert 720p to 720×576. Not 720×486 which is what NTSC is.
