    Hi everyone,

The specs of my iMac are nothing spectacular…2.4ghz 2 gb ram

I have a prores 422 movie 60 mins in length approximately.

I was wondering how long Compressor would take to convert this file to MPEG2 ready for burning in DVD Studio.

    Any ideas ? Thanks

    Martin

All depends on the bit rate. Drop the file into Compressor choose CBR 5.8 and hit submit. Batch monitor and Compressor will give you an estimate. When it’s done, Batch Monitor will tell you how long it took.

Hard to say, but my gut feeling is that it’s going to be a “leave it going overnight” job.

(Kind of depends on what chipset you’ve got – a 2.4GHz i7 will be much quicker than a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo).

It might be worth making a 30second clip and see how long it takes to process that, then you’ll have something to base an estimate on.

Will depends also if you are sending to compressor or importing a self contained movie.
If you are importing a self-contained, will depend also if the movie is already SD or HD.
If you have Control Frame On or OFF will be another factor.
