source format is quicktime movie format .mov

not sure what souce content means, but the video is made for instructional purposes with intro and exit graphics with audio

video is being used to teach content in a person to person style (interview) indoors

f8 1mb is a sorenson squeeze 5 preset but that video is still pixelated.

Quicktime .mov is just a wrapper, I need to know the codec used. Open the movie in quicktime player and go to the Window menu, ‘Show Movie inspector’

Make a note of all what is says there and let me know.

By content I mean is it ‘Talking heads’, ‘Graphics/Animation’, ‘Action’, ‘Text Presentation’ etc…..What is the footage of?

here is the info you asked for in the attachments.

10 second intro and 10 second exit have graphics (shown in pic) graphics then it’s basically an interview with on screen talent

Ok, the frame size of your source is 4:3 (It’s a DV Frame size), is the onscreen talent stuff shot widescreen?

The problem is probably that you’ve got square pixel graphics mixed up with non-square pixel DV material all exported to PhotoJPEG which is square pixel.

Do the people in the video look normally shaped?

If it’s not widescreen then try resizing the clip to 640×480 when you encode it, if its still pixelated or blocky, try 480×360.

yeah the talent is shot in widescreen 16:9 I’m trying to correct that now

I rendered it again using mpeg4 and ACC for audio and the 4 min video was 147 mb which is a bit big as this will be used on a blog and then mass distibuted to video/youtube sharing sites.

Did you apply a deinterlace filter in Squeeze, if not you need to

I don’t think I applied it using squeeze 5. I can redo the original deinterlaced.

I’ll stick with your advice for flash, can I ask why? Is it a more broadly used format or easier for me being the newb that I am?

I just rendered an h264/AAC which is the best so far, and only 23.69mb

There are more Flash 8 (VP6) enabled computers out there than Flash 9 (H.264). Standard MPEG-4 is not as high quality as VP6. Confusing as H.264 can also be MP4.
