    Howdy Folks,

So I shot some great footage on DVCPRO HD, Varicam. These were the days everything was 59.94 and somehow it flagged the frames it knew it needed for 23.98. Then you used some tool in post to actually remove the duplicate frames. Right now, all I have is the footage digitized from tape.

Anyway, when I edit these on the timeline, they show up choppy. It’s like Premiere is choosing the wrong frames to display.

I’m in the process of switching from FCP to Premiere, so I don’t know the “tricks” yet. To get it to work in FCP, you just move your in-point up 1 frame. Then it starts selecting the correct frames and looks perfect. Make sense?

I just can’t get it to work in Premiere CS5. Ideas anyone?

    thanks!

    Tom

    Hi Tom,

You will probably have to convert that footage before getting to Premiere. One solution I’ve used in the past goes through After Effects. Andrew Kramer made a plugin that does just that.

As usual, Andrew’s preset is amazing… But the challenge isn’t so much the frame rate, but the duplicate frames. As Andrew indicates, those have to be removed first. Ugh.

After Effects can do it on a clip-by-clip basis… but it would be a monumental task with this much footage.

With some tinkering I was able to get FCP to drop the duplicates when editing onto a 23.98 timeline. Was just hoping to find solution for it in Premiere…
