50p smooth slow mo HELP!
Help me, please!
i am editing on express pro HD5.I have some footage shot at 50p from a canon 7d. I need smooooth slow mo on a 24p timeline.
i have tried importing 50p on to 24p timeline and it is normal speed.
i have tried slowing it down with timewarp and it is jittery.
i have tried importing 50p on to a 60p timeline and slowing it down with timewarp and it is jittery.
i have tried typing IgnoreQTrate true into the cosole and Avid does not recognise the command.Other than buying some other software, which would be annoying, is there anything else i can try.
Avid, the world leader, should surely be able to convert my 50p footage to 24p.
Please help.

When you use Fluidmotion, did you select Progressive as your source?

Have you tried typing:
ignore qtrate true
in the console before importing the QT wrapped file? This will perform a frame for frame import resulting in a slowmo from a 50p shot file. This will ignore audio.

Another method if using Media Composer v4 is to open a 720p/50 project, import files. Then open your 720p/24 project, open bin from the 720p/50. After you edit the clip into your timeline, the Mix & Match will kick in. In the Effects editor, set the motion type to be frame for frame. This will slow it up as 50p playing as 24.

One more thing (or two), I just tried this on my system and the “ignoreqtrate true” does not seem to do anything anymore – I will try removing the audio track first to see if that helps. But I did use an application called QTchange from Video Toolshed (Mac only) and I can change the QT rate with that application to be 24 – and remove tracks as needed. That did work on my test 720p/59.94 -> 23.976.

…and one last thing…
The “ignoreqtrate true” does work if the original QT file to be imported is V only (remove audio tracks).

thanks for all those suggestions, although i think i have found the problem which is Avid express pro hd v5.1 is too old and does not have the ignoreqtrate command. i need ti update.
