4K source footage in 1080p timeline – Warp Stabilizer
A quick question for Premier Pro Guru’s.
I’ve got a timeline which is pretty much all 4K footage, my sequence is 1080p and the output is 1080p.
I’m concerned about preserving maximum quality so I was wondering when you stabilise a 4K clip within a 1080p timeline, it asks for it to be nested. Fair enough, then I apply my Warp Stabiliser to the Nested Clips. Now, here is the warp stabiliser being applied to the 4k master file or the 1080p downscaled file?
Essentially, I’m happy for some clips to loose their true 4K resolution but I don’t want any clips to have less pixels than 1080p if that makes sense?

Yes, you are stabilizing it in 1080p.
You should do it in a 4K sequence. Then maybe do a Render and Replace and place that in your 1080p sequence and resize accordingly. Not ideal, but thats how it works.

Just another point of view – what John has shared is perfectly valid.
With Warp Stabilizer, I stabilize and render clips out to a lossless codec at full rez, then import and edit with the rendered files. It takes just a little time, and for me at least, makes the edit go smoother.
